They dont pick a card, they pick a number. If they thought of 6:00, then they would take 6 cards off the top. They don’t take note of any cards, that’s what we as the magician do.
We force a card, in this case its the 4 of diamonds, and by the way its counted out it will appear in the 6:00 position on the table. The magician says what number did you pick? They say 6, and on the 6:00 position we see the card is the 4 of diamonds, and thats what we wrote on the card.
They are told to pick a number between 1 and 12 (so between 1:00 and 12:00). Take that number of cards off the top of the deck and put them in the pocket. By the way the cards are counted out, the card that we chose to be the force card (in this case the 4 of diamonds) will be on the clock in the position the person chose. So if they chose 2:00 and took 2 cards off the top, the 4 of diamonds (that we picked) would be in the 2:00 position on the table.
but what if their card was 4 and they thought of 6 oclock…and their a card isnt there??

yes it does. it works with any number between 1 and 12, thats why you tell the person to choose an hour of the day. if they picked the number 7, they have to take out 7 cards from the top, if they chose 12, they take 12 cards from the top.
