    Use autocad 2010 and change to 3D modeling. I’m a sophomore in highschool and i’m in engineering design (took pre-engineering for a whole year last year). This week we also had an actual 3D printer that we got to use and print scale models made out of abs plastic. The machine was around $15,000 i believe

    the programming part is done via computer using G-code. (lots of different software for that) it’s more the controller hardware that can get complicated (unless you spend lots of money on pre-made stuff)

    To gain better precision you should use axis from copy machines instead of this rails.

    You can get them next to nothing at local scrap yard. I have bought plenty of axis and four steppers (two sanyo-denki) motors for less than 5 $ :-)
