    When you use the mouse to click and drag along the timeline to move the playhead it should come up in the viewer window, it should only say that it needs to render when you actually click on the play button, i think that is an answer to your question! Hope it helps anyway!

    hey how come you can preview you video in the timeline even though it needs rendering. When ever I put video in the timeline it says i need to render whenever I preview it.

    One thing, if change the video format to 4:3 then it will fill the screen.
